Description
For sale is a very rare sealed vinyl copy of The Drug King's Last Stand Volume 1 by Various Artist (Cornucopia, 7000).
This is the 1977 answer to the growing drug abuse epidemic in America: The narrator begins by saying, "Tonight, take a trip through the illegal drug traffic jam in the underworld of cocaine."
Though this album is meant to be a cautionary tale it quickly turns into a comedy of unbelievable proportions. With drugs, violence, and surreal scenes setting the pace for this bizarre anti-drug campaign, we find Billy Blue, sick from drug use, brought home to his mother where various characters stop by Billy's house including a whispering boxer (Muhammad Ali as himself), a rhyming pimp/drug king (Peter Pusher, played by Hoyt Axton), a U.S. senator and even the president!! What!?!
VERY BIZARRE stuff on this LP in the form of songs and 3rd person narrative telling us why drugs are addictive in a very roundabout manner, with play time just under 50 minutes long.
Chalked full of amazing funk samples, bizarre and confusing dialogue and every last bit of sound bites for the DJ in all of us, this album is one of a kind!
The all star cast includes President Jimmy Carter, Lily Tomlin, Arlo Guthrie, Pat Boone, Jayne Kennedy, The Great Senator Hubert H. Humphrey, Billie Jean King, Hoyt Axton, Rosey Sheldon, Frank Sinatra, Arthur Morrison, Karen Hall, , Yolanda King, Paul Hampton, and Muhammad Ali.
