Description
The FLIES 'THE MAGIC TRAIN' b/w 'GENTLY AS YOU FEEL' 45 on RCA VICTOR RCA 1757, has two tunes written by Peter Dunton, later of prog-psych standouts 'T2', who were also related to Bulldog Breed and The Gun. Considered (most notably by the British psychedelic reference 'bible' to be their finest moment, THE MAGIC TRAIN has much of what the late 60's British psych was about. Obscure references to some kind of a 'magical trip' lyrically, and waiting for a train to take you to some destination you want to go in time rather than of geographical place!? Hmm, those strange and wonderful songwriters of the late 60's eh? THE FLIES already carried some renown, having made prog and psych fans sit up and take notice with their version of 'I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone', a tough Monkees flip-side tune that certainly deserved attention. 'The Magic Train' was their final single for RCA. The flip 'Gently As You Feel' is a mellower track, but strong, well produced and with a more intimate style. A great 2-sided record! I can grade this a superb NM, and it plays wonderfully. The silver on black lables are clean, showing little sign of use or wear - and NO tears, pen, or stickers! Winning bidder pays postage of £2.50 UK, £3.50 Europe, £4.50 Worldwide. Please see my other auctions for more collectible music gems.

Although subjective regarding taste in music, this has fairly comprehensive about the best of British music in that period. Many may feel that this book falls somwhat short in that it does overlook some rather astoundingly good releases, and fail to notice the quality to be found in some issues. These get dismissed as 'long forgotten', so although it's one of the better compendiums around, it's still not the real deal yet!price rating
