Description

Hello! This is an auction for a copy of Volume 3 by the Gil Mellé Quartet on Blue Note, catalogue number BLP 5054. This is the rare original 1954 10" US pressing with the Lexington Avenue address deep groove labels and with "RVG" and the Plastylite "ear" in the runouts. The record with this copy has some mild scuffing and scratching to it, but plays well, without any skips or sticks. The cover is in quite nice shape, but notably has some splitting in the center of the bottom edge. This release notably features performances from the likes of Lou Mecca, Billy Phillips, Vinnie Thomas, and of course Gil Mellé himself. Original pressings of this title aren't seen all that often, and many of these original Lexington releases are getting more and more difficult to find. Good luck!
