Day & Co front laminated Sleeve is in EX Condition, the plain Inner is in VG+ Condition and the Record is in VG+ Condition. Description
Original UK CBS label mono press.The Liverpool Scene was originally formed in 1967 by pop poets Roger McGough & Adrian Henri, with guitarist Andy Roberts releasing their first album The Incredible New Liverpool Scene in 1967. This was a follow up to the sucess of their book of beat poetry with Brian Patten 'The Mersey Sound' published earlier in the year by Penguin. Roger McGough left soon after the album was recorded to continue with The Scaffold his former band, with John Gorman & Mike McGear. Adrian Henri continued as lead singer/poet with a group of musicians including Mike Evans, Mike Hart, Pete Clark & Brian Dodson and by 1969 they even supported Led Zeppelin and toured the USA. This is the first incarnation of the band, recorded live in Liverpool, making it a great example of their early live act.
This is the original issue with the rough orange CBS labels, with the earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and the A-2 A-3 stampers of the very first presses.
The Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with light corner/edge wear and some light laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some light storage rubbing & a biro initial on the unlaminated rear. The spine is intact, with some light rubbing along the spine and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact, but is lightly discoloured & in VG+ condition. The record is in visually VG+ condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle marks/scuffs, but there are some areas of bag scuffing visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few faint spindle markings on each side. The sound reproduction is VG+ to EX, still clear & precise throughout, with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and in a couple of the quieter spoken word passages.
Overall, still a really good, loud & clear listen. The matrix nos. are; 63045, A-1 stamper A-2, B-1 stamper A-3. This is one of the early copies of the original 1967 UK mono issue of this album!
