INFO : After packing out shows in Tasmania (known then as Beathoven’) legendary 60s US producer, song-writer and influencer Kim Fowley ventured down-under looking for the next ‘big thing’. Upon stumbling upon the band he signed them to the Trafalgar label, changed their name to ‘The Innocents’ and penned a number of the tracks here as well as handling production.
This brilliant 1984 package from Raven was strangely their 1st album and compiles both stages of the quartet drawing together the EMI and RCA singles, as well as the Kim Fowley demos, an unreleased third RCA single plus unissued complete songs and demos from the band's personal files at the time.
With such a disjointed period of material it is a pleasant surprise how cohesively this anthology works.
Chock full of cracking tunes and informative liner notes (by rock historian Glenn A Baker) this album rates right up there as far as power-pop goes … and not just at home but globally. Sadly these guys never received the recognition for the magnetic sounds spread across the grooves here as without doubt they were a class above the pack in this genre.
Certainly one of the rarest and better Aussie albums of this genre.

CONDITION: Note : All records (except where Mint) have been vacuum-machine cleaned and fully played on a quality system to determine an accurate grading.
VINYL : A fab copy. Brilliant sheen and superb sound. Played carefully a few times and difficult to rate any less than Near Mint.
LABELS : Clean as per photos above
SLEEVE : Apart from some wear to the entrance edges, both front and back ( see pics above), it presents superbly with no wring, splits or ring-wear. Rated a strong VG+ to EX.
