A rare, hard to find 1960s UK Jazz Stereo LP record
"Springboard" 1969 British Experimental/Free Jazz. The Jeff Cline - Ian Carr Quartet. Polydor Special 545007 (Stereo). "Ian Carr has been on the cutting edge of the British jazz scene for nearly four decades. Self-trained as a musician, Carr played an important role in the development of jazz-rock fusion, playing with John McLaughlin in the early '60s, then formed the Rendell-Carr Group with saxophonist Don Rendell in 1962. During the seven years he worked with Rendell, Carr helped the band record five albums. The album was recorded before he formed one of England's first electronic jazz-rock fusion groups, Nucleus. Bassist Cline was another mainstay of the Britsh Jazz scene of the 60s who wrote some of the score and produced for the 1971 Michael Caine movie "Get Carter". British saxophonist Trevor Watts has been associated with the British free jazz and improvised music scene since the mid-'60s. He is perhaps best known for his involvement in the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and in other projects with drummer John Stevens one of the founding fathers of free improvisation in Britain in the mid-'60s, also the drummer here." Abstracted from Allmusic.com Condition Vinyl - No scratches, clicks or pops. Label shows little or no evidence of play. Cover - Top edge has some scuffs, bottom edge has some wear. Small piece of graphic missing from black band at top of front. The matt finish on both sides means that there is ring marking on both sides as shown in the photograph of the reverse.
