Description
A very unusual copy of The Kinks - Are The Village Green Preservation Society . The gatefold sleeve has on the spine : VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY/THE KINKS PYE RECORDS NSPL18233 The back of the sleeve has at the top right corner MONO NSPL 18233 although listening to the record it sounds like it's in STEREO .
The inner sleeve is plain paper with polyliner.May or may not be original with one split.
The disc has the green and red "Precision Records and Tapes" label ,which is obvious in the photos,and not the Pye labels. Release date on the label is 1968, no other dates seen , but I believe PRT was formed from the old PYE records in about 1980. The label has the following: NSPL 18233 NSPL 18233-A* (for side A) and NSPL 18233-B* (for side B) There's a capital P within a circle followed by 1968 Precision Records & Tapes Ltd.

The outer gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition,with some light shelf wear , mainly very light ring wear on the back,very mild corner scuffing. Spine,top and bottom edges are all good as is the opening. One small patch of the gloss on the cover has gone ,and is now matt - it's obvious to anyone that a price sticker has been removed at some point. On the back cover is a patch running down the right side - see photo. It looks like a printing error as it has the same glossy finish as the rest of the cover. Some writing (figures) in pencil on inside (on the plain card stock)
Vinyl is in VG++ condition. I've played it through before listing and there no issues,some minor background clicks occasionally ,but certainly not obtrusive. The vinyl looks clean and has no scratches. There are a few very faint fine inner sleeve hairlines which don't stand out - the record has to be tilted into the light to see them and they don't affect play.
I've laid out all the details above in a comprehensive manner and know nothing more than what I've stated above about this lp. This copy most resembles the Pye 1980 reissue in its description. Happy to answer anything specific about the record if you can point me in the direction of where to look.
