Description
The Michael Garrick trio - moonscape.
Incredibly rare British jazz LP. Original UK pressing from 1964 on airborne records. 99 made only. A really beautiful piece of music that was pressed in tiny quantities, possibly for tax reasons? UK jazz was still a low seller in 1964, and this almost homemade effort from one of the best early on is so rare to find in its original format.
This is possibly a very early outing even for this record as it comes in a plain 10' sleeve with the cat number and date written in pencil. It does however come with the original inner sleeve that gives all of the details of the music and the recording.
Michael Garrick - piano, d green - bass, c Barnes - drums.
Tracks: moonscape, music for shattering supermarkets, sketches of Israel, a face in the crowd, man, have you ever heard, take-off.
Nbp 0004.
Vinyl is vg plus. Shiny with minor surface wear. A few wispy surface marks but all in very good order. The label is bright and textured. Some spindle wear but I would say it had been played only 8 or so times after the original purchase or gift. Inner sleeve is age stained but all intact. Some rubbing has worn away some of the writing but all still readable. Bottom split to inner. Outer sleeve was found 20 records away from the inner and was coupled only by the cat number in pencil along with the date 07/64.
this may be a first press that was given to a friend prior to the sleeve being made. I really cannot be sure though.
Only two have sold as far as I am aware and a great repress b trunk records has ensured that the legacy of this small press rarity will indeed live on.
This is a possible once in a lifetime opportunity to own the original.
