Description
The arrival of Jeff Lynne brought an heavier sound that was only hinted at on their fantastic 'Shazam' LP earlier in 1970. 'Looking on' leaves the Freakbeat rave-ups far behind them and embraces the long possibilities of progressive ideas and louder amps. 'When Alice comes back to the farm' and 'Feel too good' are foot stomping ragers, like somewhere between Slade or Spooky Tooth. 'Open up said the world at the door', with their use of oboe, cello, and pianos in place of any Hammond organs, gives The Move a distinct sound and offers a hint of the orchestral direction they would take in a few years. 'Looking on' may be a difficult listen for those not sure what to expect, but it's originality is long lasting. It's an absolute UK first pressing. Fragile laminated sleeve shows a few creases and some lamination lift on the front, near the spine and bottom left corner. Some small shelf wear at the opening nearly blends in with the cover graphics, and what appears to be more storage wear at the top seam is not actually split. The vinyl shows a blemish and a few hairlines, but this copy plays through EX loud and powerful! Let's call it an honest VG++/VG++ and is great value for $20 opening bid.
