Original UK Mono LP with red/silver labels & laminated flipback sleeve.  41-1 42-1 matrices.

An often overlooked classic from the 60s from Birmingham's The Move.  Whilst a very musically accomplished group (all the group members take lead vocals here), what makes their debut so exceptional is the fully formed songwriting sensibility of the young Roy Wood.  Beyond the singalong hit singles,  "Flowers In The Rain" and "Fire Brigade" there's wealth of catchy but intelligent pop here, quite often (un)healthily preoccupied with the subject of impending insanity - an interesting byproduct of Psychedelia.  There's also bruising takes on Eddie Cochran and Moby Grape tunes, and a rather jokey Doo Wop cover, which is the only weak link here. Highly recommended for all fans of British Pop and Psychedelia.  The mono is certainly the way to go with the record, for some of the stereo LP was rechanneled stereo.

Condition - (i Grade NM / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F)
Sleeve - VG  The laminated sleeve is quite creased - and has at some point split, but shows signs of skillful taping. Bit of ringwear on front, fraying by the sleeve opening.  Corners bumped but spine rubric legible. On the rear, two parts of the flipback have come away(top left, bottom left).  A bit of label stuck to bottom right. Overall, retains its beauty. 
 
Vinyl G - VG-  -The LP has seen a lot of play and ain't so pretty.  It has lots of scuffs, scratches and marks.  One of these (a deep, marauding skim of the a needle) causes a serious issue in Kilroy Was Here.  About 30 seconds in there is a loud clicking followed by JUMP.  It's a real shame because, otherwise, despite all the marks and wear, this LP plays really well.  There's no other major clicks or annoyance  There is a touch of distortion and some underlying crackle, but the recorded is cut quite loud so it never overpowers the music.  Although you couldn't call it an audiophile experience, the mastering here gazumps any CD I've ever heard of the same material (particularly the most recent remaster) - it's got a really full, gut pounding sound.  It especially sounds good if you sum the stereo channels to mono (as you should to get the best out of your monos on a Stereo).  I don't think a deep clean would do it any harm either! 
The labels have quite a lot of spindlewear, and some marks from a sticker label (now gone), but are still reasonably good (see pics).

Who wants this?  Bear in mind of course, that this what I imagine to be a pretty irrepairable jump . That said, this is a hard to find record, and, otherwise, it still sounds very good (I would say great!) and looks relatively presentable*   Good mastering is an irreplaceable thing - this record breathes and makes you move (pardon) - it can still (just about) do it's job.   If you are fan who wants a copy of the original mono for listening or reference, and are on a budget or not too fussy - this may be just the copy for you.  I'm gonna miss it a great deal - and I've always lived with that jump!

* Most original copies of Shazam have a pressing fault - so I'm sure this is something Move fans are used to :)
