Description
Lovely November 1968 UK 1st Press copy of Pentangle - Sweet Child, a double LP featuring the wonderful John Renbourn and Bert Jansch on guitar. Sides 1&2 were recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Released on the Transatlantic label TRA 178 , the sound quality is beautiful typical of Transatlantic pressings of the day - warm, smooth and in the room.
The record has been ultrasonically cleaned in the amazing Degritter and has come up sparkling clean with a lovely glossy lustre. There are a few tiny scuffs and marks, mostly on Side 1, but no feelable damage.
Clean labels and spindle holes ( see photos). Graded VG+
Playtest was delightful - a warm, analogue & detailed sound with great bass and excellent dynamic range. Well balanced with beautiful instrument separation and clear vocals central in the soundstage - a delightful listening experience.
The vinyl plays through with no jumping or sticking, some low noise/crackle in a few places on Side 1 & on the run in, typical of vinyl of this vintage but no spoiler.
The laminated gatefold sleeve is solid & smooth overall, some minor laminate creasing & corner rubbing. A small area of shelfwear to the bottom edge. The spine is still mostly sharp & readable. No writing, stains, splits, tape or tears.
The original poly lined inner sleeves are present & still doing a great job!
