Promotional copy of Pink Floyd’s 2nd single “See Emily Play” released by Tower Records on July 24, 1967. “See Emily Play” was written by Syd Barrett just like the “Scarecrow” single present on Side B of this release. Later on, both singles appeared on Pink Floyd’s 1st studio album “The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn”. This promotional copy is in amazing condition and just like the other Pink Floyd promotional albums listed at our current auction comes from the collection of a DJ who worked most of his life at the local radio station. This 7” 45 RPM copy was pressed at Rainbo Records plant in Los Angeles, CA. The condition of this promotional copy’s picture sleeve printed by Longacre Press Ltd. in 1967 stands out among the other copies we’ve listed for sale which had wear. However, the picture sleeve of this copy will most likely become the final upgrade in your collection. The black and white image on the picture sleeve’s front was later used for the design of “The Piper At The Gates” album. The back side of the sleeve uses Page 2 from the July 15, 1967 issue of “Melody Maker” magazine and features the “Pop 30” chart with the “See Emily Play” single occupying the 10th place and marked with a black ellipsoid. If you’re a beginner collector than the following information will be useful to you. This black ellipsoid is printed directly onto the sleeve and is a part of its design. Tower Records equipped this promotional issue with white labels which besides the large Tower’s “t” logo contains a banner at the bottom reading “Promotional Not For Sale”. The Side 1 label is marked with the large capital letter “A” while Side 2 doesn’t have any side identifier. The uniqueness of these labels also lies in the fact that they’re the only ones, among numerous Pink Floyd issues, to indicate the band name as “The Pink Floyd”. Both labels are in pristine condition, just like the vinyl that has the following very early 1st matrix numbers: Side 1: 61461 T-356 R-1126; Side 2: 61462 T-356 R-1127. Unlike the East Coast pressing which contains the Scranton’s “IAM” identifier, the West Coast pressing of this promotional issue doesn’t have any pressing plant identifiers in the runout groove.

The picture sleeve is graded as somewhere between Excellent Plus and Near Mint Minus. It's very clean and doesn't have any splits, missing pieces, tears, writing or residue. I grade the vinyl as Excellent Minus. It's very clean and barely has any marks with only Side 2 having some light factory "fogging" in the runout area. The snow white labels are very clean and in Mint Minus condition. The vinyl sounds amazing only having some very light static during the quiet parts, which most likely could go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
