Description
The Road To Ruin - John & Beverley Martyn (Island Records)
1970 vinyl LP released on Island's 'pink rim' label, one of the very first 'pink rim' releases. The photo, I know, is terrible but the cover is in good condition - intact, although it's a challenge to read the wording on the spine and there is a bald patch left by the removal of a price label. Part of the challenge of reading the spine is due to the terrible choice of gold lettering used by Island for the graphics for the sleeve. I'm the guilty party who removed the price label. This LP has had one owner only.
The vinyl is in great nick. If it's the vinyl you want, you won't go far wrong with this. It's also, in my view, a much better record than the more successful 'Stormbringer'. There are pure JM tracks, some really good ones, and the title track is the start of the journey towards the jazzy JM that was to attract wider attention, if not huge commercial success.
