An original stereo 1st press of Aftermath on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1/2 - very 1st cut. Please note the labels are consistent with 1st press and still exhibit that all important Decca deep-groove. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace MONO cover. Ok, clearly it should be stereo, but it's still original to the 1st release period and is in pretty decent condition - more than worthy of serious consideration. Stereo in 1966 was still a very niche format and consequently finding a 1st stereo press is hard enough to start with, let alone one that plays well. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve from the time too.
Vinyl (Ex) In super condition and has seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks each side and one superficial trail - nothing troublesome that will cause issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetween are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Even the tricky tracks like 'Lady Jane' play nice and clean. All I could detect was a pop in the seconds before the tinkling of the piano of 'Flight 505' starts up. Then, nothing more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. In fact, expect a very impressive and clean rendition of this very sought after title.
Cover (Vg+) So, don't forget that this is the Mono cover from the time of release. But this copy is in pretty decent condition and that's not always an easy find with these early covers. Lovely clean front with two tiny thumbnail creases - nice! Just a tiny patch of laminate bubbling in the top-right corner [very minor]. The rear is always the problem area, but this example acquits itself well. A bit of ageing in places - not bad at all. There's a small pink wax stain over toward the opening - otherwise very respectable. Edge wear is fairly light and the spine is pretty much totally intact.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. No splits..small sticker on rear.
