Description
Ok, first things first..... Go and have a look at all the other French original copies of Around & Around on
An original 1st issue of A&A on the French Decca Lozenge label from Spring 1965. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback cover 'made in France' - dated "5-65"..which translates to May '65. Also included is the incredibly fragile tracing-paper Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. The audio is strikingly clear and vibrant - it's bright... and those Berry licks sound absolutely superb on this pressing. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Interference is both minor and infrequent. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. By and large a humdinger which dishes out these Stone classics with verve and precision. I defy anyone not to LOVE this copy!!!
Cover (Ex-) So, a grading of [Ex-] might not sound all that impressive - on the face of it. But like I said - go check out those other covers! This title is an absolute nightmare to find in, even, half decent condition. This example is SUPERBLY preserved. The front is flat and shiny. There's no laminate lift or creasing - this in itself is extremely unusual. The rear is nearly ALWAYS aged and looking rotten. NOT HERE! This is one of the best rears for this title that I've witnessed. The ageing process just hasn't got going on this one. There are no nasty tears or markings. The only vague issue is a touch of flipback creasing down in the bottom left corner. All flipbacks are technically intact. Edge wear is very light for this title. The spine is pretty much all intact with just one slight knock - and the text pretty much all still legible. Like I said...you struggle to equal this copy let alone better it..
Inner (Ex-) Possibly the most difficult inner sleeve EVER to find in decent condition. These tracing paper inners are ridiculous for housing heavy records! Whoever came up with the idea needs a proper slap! But amazingly, this example has survived almost intact..which is a nigh on miracle. All three edges are unsplit! The fold over flap is still there with a small corner torn-away.
