Description
An original 1st Issue of the STONES DEBUT on the Decca label from 1964. Matrix 2A/3A [there are combinations with earlier matrix numbers]. Stampers 1-BM/1-UC. Please note the 1st label variant of this LP holds a number of label errors which were subsequently corrected over the following year. Firstly, the Bo Diddley track is titled 'Mona' as all the DJ's knew it by that name - that is not the official name of the track! Also, the track before it, 'Honest I do', is not credited to 'Reed' as it should be and the publisher shows as 'Cromwell'. Then there's 'Route 66' which is yet to mention 'Get your kicks'! In addition, on side 2 - The publisher 'Bozier' is mentioned when in fact it should be 'D'ozier. All of these errors were in fact corrected by 1965 - so you can rely on this being a very early copy from 1964. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback sleeve printed by MacNeill Press. Also included is the original Decca inner [We also have a late 60's red Decca mono inner too - just ask, if you'd like that]. So, this is 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) Remains in fantastic condition despite having seen a moderate level of use - and this is a real testament to solid sixties vinyl [let's hope the stuff they produce today lasts as long!] Under close inspection there are a few marks, but it is all very light in nature - certainly nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is minimal. All we detected was a touch of static in a couple of isolated moments. It really is a blindingly good performer and that is not an easy find from a true early copy like this.
Cover (Vg+) These covers were often subject to a bit of a beating down the years. This one has survived better than many. There's a nice shiny front which is not suffering the usual laminate lift and creasing is only light. The rear is exhibiting a bit of ageing around the extremities, but nothing really obtrusive. The text on the spine is all intact and edge wear is reasonably light. And overall the cover still retains decent rigidity.
Inner (Ex...Both) Very solid condition. No faults. No seam tears.
