Description

An original boxed mono copy of LIB on the UK Decca label from 1969. Matrix 2A/2A. Stampers 1M/1UC. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Upton printed cover with peep-hole and poster sticker on the front [all of which conforms to 1st issue design]. Also included is the original bespoke LIB mono inner sleeve with the 'London Bach Choir' credit still evident. No poster..sorry!
Vinyl (Vg+/Vg-) Still in nice condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Do expect a few light marks, and a couple of light trails either side - nothing feelable or really sinister. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly 'VERYGOOD+' level of playback on side 1 and then a mostly 'VERYGOOD' on side 2. It seems that side 2 has seen a bit more use and this explains the better rendition on Side 1 and inferior rendition on side 2. Side 1 plays mostly very nice indeed with fairly clean playback, and other than a few clicks briefly in track 1 there's not really too much to complain about. On side 2 it's more of a mixed bag...YCAGWYW has a bit of crackle for the first minute as does YGTS, but thereafter playing fine and very enjoyable. MonkeyMan is fine - no problems. The only track which was predominantly VG- , and a bit disappointing, was Midnight Rambler... A bit more crackle and pop than you'd like and evident for a lot of the track. Weigh it up in the round...these 1969 mono copies are very very sought after....This represents an affordable route through to a reasonable playing copy.
Cover (Vg+) In lovely condition and has clearly been looked after. Lovely shiny and relatively unaged front cover with that all important stick down in the bottom left. Remember the black sticker is a great indicator of provenance. Whilst posters were printed throughout the seventies...the sticker advertising them is only found on the early copies. The rear seems to have largely avoided the ageing process. Edge wear is very light for this title and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains great rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) No side splits or markings. Bit of creasing to corners.
