Description

An original late-1970 copy of LIB on UK Decca. Well, we'd all like a perfect 1969 copy - but a decent playing '69 copy will cost $$$. If you're fussy about the audio - but want a reasonably early copy...look for a smart playing 1970 copy [simples!]. They were pressed reasonably heavy and sound absolutely fab. Matrix 2/4. Stampers 1-BKI/1-BKH [1st mother]. Also note the label design - the early boxed copies still retained the wider-bodied font. They also exhibit a minor nod to the earliest copies - 'The Decca Record Company' >> All exhibits on the same line. Later re-pressings the 'THE' shifts up one line. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover from 1970. The early copies would have had a peep hole to distinguish between mono and stereo. However, mono was discontinued in March 1970...from this point on the peep-hole would have disappeared. There's the original bespoke LIB inner. We will also include a generic stereo inner from the time too - as it is poly-lined. You'll then have the bases covered! Please note there is NO poster.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slightest deviation. Lovely quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with superb clarity. And you're really going to need it to play clean into those tricky moments... Think ... Love in Vain & Silver. These are the fussiest darn tracks on LIB. If it plays clean, as it does here, you know you're onto a winner. Lovely clean audio throughout. If you need to hear LIB in full effect - take a good look at this one. All I could make out was a few minor crackles in one isolated spot per side, and a couple of miniscule ticks as Silver opens. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) Difficult to find in top level condition like this. Many will look a bit tired by this point in time - but this example is in surprisingly rude health. Lovely clean and flat front cover - no signs of ageing or creasing. The rear has escaped most of the usual signs of wear and ageing - it looks real smart. Edge wear is extremely limited and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact with just a couple of miniscule stress creases. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg/Vg+) The bespoke LIB inner gets a VG as there's no inner bag. The same period generic inner gets a VG+ as there's no splits and the bag is present.
