  • Technical Heritage & Pressing Details: This is the certified authentic US First Pressing of The S.O.S. Band's defining 1983 synth-funk masterpiece, On the Rise.

    True first-run status is verified by the original "FZ 38697" catalog prefix on the labels (later reissues were downgraded to the cheaper PZ or AL series). Furthermore, the dead wax features the earliest "-1B" matrix cut (PBL-38697-1B) alongside the machine-stamped "MASTERED AT ALLEN ZENTZ L.A., CALIF." and the distinctive flower/bird etching of legendary mastering engineer "Big Bass" Brian Gardner. This genuine West Coast first pressing is highly sought after for its massive, uncompressed low-end response and incredible headroom.

  • Production Notes: A historic R&B milestone marking the exact moment hitmakers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis took over the band's sonic blueprint. Contains the foundational, heavily sampled electro-funk dancefloor anthems "Just Be Good to Me" and "Tell Me If You Still Care."
