Description
The Savages, Live & Wild, on Duane 1047. Super-rare, original, deep-groove, 13-track LP. Disc has full original shine, only a couple spindle marks, looks like it was played very little. Unfortunately, it also looks like it didn't see the inside of a sleeve much. Side 1 has a lot of light scratches, as well as a series of wider scuff marks that are ugly to view, but are strictly superficial--more a cosmetic issue than an auditory one. The flip side is better looking, as it has the light scratches but not the scuff marks. It's hard to know how to grade a record like this, because it's so shiny and clean-looking, while also having a lot of marks. I guess based strictly on visuals, I'd grade the Side 1 G+, because of the scuffs, and Side 2 weak VG to VG-. But the record plays with great fidelity, some periodic surface noise audible in the background and the occasional louder click (most notable on several revolutions during one of the spoken intros when the singer is tweaking the crowd for not dancing). Ultimately, this is a very listenable play copy of a crazy rare garage classic. It does not have the cover.
GRADING
M- A flawless or nearly flawless record that appears to have seen little or no play.
VG+ Full gloss, some light marks. A very, very attractive record that has seen limited play and has been well cared for.
VG More marks and scratches, will have some surface noise, but still a playable record. Scratches may be fairly numerous, but will be light.
VG- Lots of marks and scratches but no gouges or major problems.
G+ and G Heavy wear and marks, plays through okay.
