Description

The Searchers ? "Sugar And Spice|"  Pye Records ? NPL 18089  UK 1st pressing. Vinyl, LP (Mono)  released in 1963.  
The sleeve is in fantastic condition with no writing or tears. The vinyl appears to have been very lightly played and is also in great shape.  Matrix/Run Out Side 1 NN 1089 A-2M Matrix/Run Out Side 2 NN 1089 B-2M
Released on a plum-coloured Pye label in a flip-back cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. 
The Searchers were a Liverpool-based group that were originally the backing group for singer Johnny Sandon but decided to branch out on their own. When Pye Records recording manager Tony Hatch heard a demo they had made he was so impressed that they were immediately placed under contract. They recorded "Sweets For My Sweet" as their first song. "Sugar and Spice" was a 1963 hit single for The Searchers written by Tony Hatch under the pseudonym Fred Nightingale. It made number two on the UK charts (on Pye) and number 44 in the USA charts. "Sugar and Spice" was also the title of the group's debut LP.
