~ Cancon Vinyl Auctions ~ You are bidding on this Ultra Rare original Canadian Garage 45 by The Skaliwags entitled
" 365 Days A Year " b/w " Turn Him Down " on Excellent Records E-5001, original Canadian first pressing from 1966.
Extremely rare and total killer 2 sided Canadian Garage punk fuzz 1st 45 pressing release by The Skaliwags that features "Turn Him Down" as the B-Side. The subsequent 2nd pressing also on a very similar gold Excellent label and the 3rd pressing on the green Excellent label had "Turn Him Down" as the A-Side. The claim that this particular 1st pressing was an demo test pressing is not true.
The real story is that the band pressed 50 copies of this first pressing for themselves with the help of Alex Sherman ( owner of the Excellent record studio and label here in Ottawa) as a favor for the band who in turn handed them out to local radio stations, record executives, company representatives, loyal fans and family members to promote this 1st 45 release.
Based on local radio station air play popularity surveys at that time, the subsequent following 2 pressings flipped the song track titles on these 45's to better reflect the current music market trend.
The following 2nd and 3rd pressing runs had a very limited production run of approximately 200 copies in total.
This is Canada's absolute best 2 sided killer garage fuzz 45 - well I guess everyone knows this already....I don't need to say more.
Also included with this 45 is the original brown sleeve that housed this record and a bonus "free copy" from an actual photo shot from this group...bet you haven't seen this Skaliwags picture before!
This exceptional 45 is truly worth adding to your existing garage 45 collection.
A decent copy until a mint one comes along...if you can find it.
This copy shows general visible label wear on both sides of the delicate gold paper foil label (mainly on the outside edges) and some light pen written signatures.
The vinyl is really nice and retains all it's original high gloss finish except for a few very light hairline needle marks on both sides. The record playing surface however has a small 1/4 inch hairline crack (both sides) that does not affect play. This is caused by a manufacturing pouring dimple defect fault on the "outside" edge of the actual record playing surface in the dead wax. The record plays flawlessly - no ticks or pops.
A very reasonable opening bid is being offered for everyone...good luck!
