Here is the 10 track UK LP/ Album Return Of The Giant Slits by The Slits from 1981. Housed in a card picture sleeve & released on CBS Records, the Catalogue Number is CBS 85269. The record itself is housed within a printed paper inner sleeve. The track listing is Earthbeat, Or What It Is?, Face Place, Walk About, Difficult Fun, Animal Space/ Spacier, Improperly Dressed and Life On Earth. A 7” EP is also included. The Catalogue Number is XPS 125. The EP is housed within a plain paper sleeve. The track listing is American Radio Interview (Winter 1980) and Face Dub. Side A plays at 33⅓ RPM, while Side B plays at 45 RPM. Writing on the label states “PROMOTION ONLY NOT FOR SALE”. I assume the package was made in the UK for UK release, as that’s where the records were made.
LP/ Album Side 1 Matrix: CBS.S.85269.A.2 (12 o’clock) 5 (I think) (4 o’clock) ƱTOPIA. (7 o’clock) A (9 o’clock)
LP/ Album Side 2 Matrix: CBS.S.85269.B.2 (12 o’clock) 1 (I think) (3 o’clock) A (9 o’clock) ƱTOPIA. (10 o’clock)
EP A Side Matrix: XPS 125 A2 (12 o’clock) 4 (2 o’clock) A (8 o’clock) ƱTOPIA. (11 o’clock)
EP B Side Matrix: XPS 125 B1 (12 o’clock) 3 (I think) (2 o’clock) A (8 o’clock) ƱTOPIA. (9 o’clock)
The Matrix Numbers are described using a clock face. The first part is the main body of the Matrix Number. It will be at 6 o’clock if it is located in front of the label with the writing curving away from me at the ends (as I look) and at 12 o’clock if it is located behind the label with the writing curving towards me at the ends (as I look). Other times give a rough idea of where additional parts of the Matrix Number are located, in relation to the main part. It’s not meant to be foolproof, just to give an idea of where the various parts of the matrix are, in relation to each other.
Condition as follows including photographs: The sleeve of the Album is in very good plus condition, due to slight creasing, slight wear & slight discoloration. The inner sleeve of the Album is in very good condition, due to slight creasing, slight wear & some discoloration. The Vinyl of the Album is in very good plus condition. Both sides of the LP/ Album play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. The overall sound is very good. There is some surface noise throughout, mostly in quieter passages & between tracks. It’s more noticeable towards the end of Life On Earth. There is a small dirty(?) area near the start of Life On Earth which results in about 24 dull pops. It can probably be removed, but I have not attempted this as the pictures would no longer be representative of what is actually visible. The sleeve of the EP is in very good minus condition, due to creasing, wear & noticeable discoloration. There is the odd nick here & there. You may want to replace the EP sleeve, should you consider it necessary. The Vinyl of the EP is in very good plus condition. Both sides of the EP play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. The overall sound is very good on Side 1 and excellent on Side 2. There is occasional surface noise, mostly in quieter passages. Overall, I don’t think the surface noise is invasive & so would not expect it to affect your listening pleasure. I always expect some surface noise from records of this age & condition. See below for NOTES ON CONDITION*.

*NOTES ON CONDITION: I grade according to the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide & will not necessarily list all individual points in the written description. There will be a blanket grade for each component (sleeve, record etc), which smaller factors fall into. The general appearance will be clearly visible in the photographs. Please study the photographs in detail as they form the bulk of the description. Please be aware that play grading is based on my interpretation of what I hear on my system only. Although it is an honest assessment, it does not automatically follow that you would reach the same conclusion when listening on your own system, as there are so many variables. I DON’T use Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide categories when play grading, just my own judgement.
You shouldn’t have any problems with the transaction but please contact me first if you do.
