Any self-respecting SMITHS fan really should not be without this title... I can see another copy priced above this one which is 'apparently' NM/NM - I would say "no chance pal".
If you're going to make a decent purchase on this SMITHS classic - you can do a lot worse than the MPO cut. In my experience this factory usually manages excellent output. And this is reinforced by listening to this LP.
A 1st press of MIM on the UK Rough trade Label. Matrix A2/B2. Etching 'MPO' & "Illness As Art" etc etc. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the bespoke inner too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, slight evidence of a needle a drop on side 1, and one light trails marks - but from what I can make out nothing that causes much issue in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Let your ears do the talking... You need a clean rendition and you want the audio to be dripping with that sullen atmosphere that Morrisey is so adept at. And this copy - WILL DELIVER. Very little to find fault with - it just plays clean throughout. The occasional crackle in the very fussy track 'Wonder'. Just what every collector wants - a great unfettered rendition - period. There's a couple of ticks as track 2 closes out. And a couple in the gap between track 1 & 2 [phew!]. But quite frankly nothing remotely to worry about really. Highly recommended across the board.
Cover (Ex) Can end up looking a bit tired - the rear being fully white is somewhat at risk! The front looks superb and is flat as a pancake - no creasing or surface wear. The rear is looking excellent and has almost entirely avoided the ageing process. There's little edge wear to speak of and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Sweet!
Inner (Ex) No issues. No splits. barely any ageing.
