Description

The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'The Queen Is Dead' UK Vinyl LP - 1986

Catalogue No. ROUGH 96 - Rough Trade

This is an original Rough Trade pressing of this highly-sought after quintessential Smiths LP. With its gatefold packaging complete with lyrics and the famous 'Salford Lads Club' image of the band, this is a pleasure to own. What is so remarkable about this particular copy is the immaculate condition in which it has been preserved. Despite being over 20 years old, this particular LP looks almost as if it could have been bought from a shop this week - such is the care which has been taken over its storage. What is more, this one is even accompanied by a rare and unusual poster which depicts an alternate take on the sleeve artwork (which is actually the version which was used for the promotional post cards at the time). The poster measures 17" x 9" and is therefore a different size to the standard Rough Trade promotional posters. Although it is not clear whether this was indeed issued by Rough Trade at all, it is clearly professionally-printed and is very likely not a recent print otherwise many of these would be turning up for sale which is not the case. Since the poster is in a beautiful un-folded state, being an ideal candidate for framing, it will be sent separately to the 12" rolled in a poster tube to preserve its condition. Note that the corners of the poster are held down by pound coins in the pictures (not included in the auction!).

The vinyl is in a remarkable near mint condition, with practically no surface marks at all and retaining its glossy 'sheen'. It appears to have been played only a few times. The inner sleeve has no marks or creases and is in mint condition, while the outer gatefold sleeve is in a remarkable near mint condition. The outer sleeve has no creases, marks, writing or other damage and all edges are sharp. There is only some very minor corner wear in places, and the very beginning of a half-inch split on the upper edge of the right hand half of the gatefold sleeve. The poster is in immaculate unfolded and unhung state, and will be posted rolled up to keep it this way. Please see the accompanying photos; note that the ID lettering is just on the pictures and not the items themselves.

All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 4.00 in the UK for securely-packaged delivery (poster will be sent separately in a protective tube at no extra charge). Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers (please ask). I always take great care to package items well.

See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time, I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live.
