The Smiths “Nice Bit Of Meat 2” (1988) unreleased live \ studio session LP

This is a rare compilation of previously unreleased recordings by The Smiths from the late '80s. The album comprises rare B-sides, alternative radio session versions, and live performances. It is a nice follow-on from the previously released "Nice Bit Of Meat' which I also have for sale.

Side A features rare studio sessions and live performances including a cover version of the James' song 'What's the World', as well as an instrumental soundcheck rehearsal of 'How Soon Is Now?'

Side B of the record contains the entire Wolverhampton Civic Hall concert (known as the T-shirt gig), performed by Morrissey, Craig Gannon, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce on December 22nd,1988. Devotees will know that this was the very first time that Morrissey performed live as a solo artist, and also the first time that Smiths songs (Stop Me, Death At One's Elbow) were performed live by members of The Smiths.

As unofficial releases are notoriously sloppy in their attention to detail, I have listed the corrected song titles, exact venues and dates (European format) of each track below. This is a highly sought-after and difficult to find collectible for serious fans and completists of The Smiths and Morrissey.

The Smiths “Royal Command Performance 1986” vintage double live vinyl LP - Rare

This is a rare first-pressing double live album featuring two performances by The Smiths. The first was recorded at the G-Mex Centre in Manchester, England (as part of the Festival of the 10th Summer) on July 19, 1986; the second was recorded at Brixton Academy Theatre in London, England on December 12, 1986—widely recognized as the band’s final live performance. Unfortunately, the producers decided it would be a wonderful idea to jumble up the songs across the two discs…      

The front and back covers feature a selection of Montgomery Clift publicity stills, including images from Red River (1948), Freud: The Secret Passion (1962), A Place in the Sun (1951) with Elizabeth Taylor, The Big Lift (1950), and From Here to Eternity (1953) with Frank Sinatra.

Note: Subsequent pressings of this album feature revised artwork and a reduced tracklist, with only 22 of the original 27 tracks retained.
