The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'This Charming Man' US Re-Issue 12" - 1992

This US 12" pressing of 'This Charming Man' is not the original 1983 release (which was never released as a single in the US), but rather a rare 'remixes' 1992 re-issue on the Sire record label. It was released as a US counterpart, on the 'Sire' label, to the WEA re-issues in the UK at the same time, and was the only place in which this single was re-issued in 1992 in a 12" format. This 12" is far scarcer than the original, since very limited numbers were pressed on vinyl compared to the CD format in 1992; this was reflected in its relatively high placing (Number 41) in the 2005 Record Collector Smiths 'Top 100 Rarities' list and similarly again in the more recent version of the Record Collector list. It has no less than seven versions of 'This Charming Man' (although the 'Original Single Version' is seemingly the same as the 'Manchester' version) as well as 'Wonderful Woman'. This copy is very rare in that it has been kept in immaculate condition (see below) and stored carefully for more than 20 years since it was pressed.The vinyl and labels are in terrific near mint condition, with no visible surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl; the record appears to have been played once or twice at most. The outer sleeve is, remarkably, also in near mint condition, having no creases. 'cut-outs' or writing and with all edges sharp and unworn. There are no signs of seam-splitting anywhere, and there is barely even any 'corner wear' to speak of. This is truly an exceptional example of this very rare record.
