The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'I Started Something I Couldn't Finish' White Label Promo 12" and Poster - 1987
Catalogue no. RTT 198 - Rough Trade Records
'White label' pressings were produced in limited quantities before the pressings of the standard 12" singles began, and were often sent to radio stations, etc, as promotional items in advance of the release of the single. The records themselves can be identified by their catalogue numbers (RTT 198 here) and the well-known message etchings which appear on the run-out grooves; the matrix numbers indicate the very first pressing run. This example is particularly desirable in that it has survived in tremendous condition (see below) and, furthermore, comes with an original Rough Trade promotional poster measuring 11.5" x 23". This is a rare example of this highly sought-after poster which has been carefully stored for many years and is not a 're-print'; having never been displayed and having seen very little handling, it will be sent out to the winning bidder separately in a protective tube to maintain its condition.The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition; there are no marks on the white labels and the vinyl is extremely glossy with barely even any 'hairline' surface marks if held to the light. The outer sleeve is identical to the standard release, and is also in remarkable near mint condition with no significant creases or splits and with sharp edges and corners having practically no signs of wear at all. The poster, remarkably, is also in near mint condition with no writing, damage or other signs of wear; and all edges and corners are sharp. There is no appreciable creasing at all, and only the most minor signs of handling. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask.
