Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'Hand In Glove' Two UK 7"s With Sleeve Variations - 1983-4
Catalogue No. RT131 - Rough Trade
This auction is for two original Rough Trade 1980s pressings, not recent 're-issues', which have different versions of the outer sleeve and record labels. The first record is the first pressing which has the Manchester '70, Portland St' address on the reverse of the sleeve and credits the sleeve design to 'The Smiths'. The record itself has a solid centre, a large 'Rough Trade' logo at the top and has a 'Glad Hips Music' credit on the label; this being the correct pressing of the record for the sleeve version. The second record has the London '61-71 Collier Street' address on the sleeve reverse and also credits the sleeve design to 'The Smiths'. The record has a 'push-out' centre (which had not been pushed out!), a smaller 'Rough Trade' logo with 'The Smiths' printed instead at the top and no 'Glad Hips Music' credit on the label; again, this is the correct record for the sleeve version. As time has gone by, it has become more and more difficult to track down these original Rough Trade pressings of the first single to be released by The Smiths and they remain extremely collectable.The vinyl and labels for the first record are in strong excellent condition, appearing to have been played very little and having only the occasional superficial surface mark on the highly-glossy vinyl in a few places. The outer sleeve is in excellent condition, with only mild beginnings of creases in a few places and some minor 'corner wear'. There is no seam-splitting, but unfortunately the surface gloss has rubbed away from the front of the sleeve in a few localised areas (see photos) and these is mild 'ringwear' due to the record inside the sleeve. The second record is somewhere between strong excellent and near mint condition with regard to the vinyl and the labels, having clearly been played only once or twice and having practically no marks at all on the highly-glossy vinyl when held to the light. The sleeve is in strong excellent condition, with no creases or seam-splitting and only some very minor wear to the corners. There is no loss of quality to the surface of the sleeve, as there is for the former record, and there is just one mark on the reverse of the sleeve around the centre, but otherwise the sleeve appears extremely well-preserved indeed and free of signs of wear. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the items themselves.
