This is a stunning record, which was released in 1995 as part of the original short-lived 1990s re-issue series by WEA (and Reprise in the US). While the UK and Europe opted to re-release 'Ask' as a single, the US got a far more interesting prospect in the form of this rarities EP (the B-sides are 'I Keep Mine Hidden', 'Work Is A Four Letter Word' and 'What's The World (Live)' which were all extremely difficult tracks to get hold of in the US). The fantastic artwork is unique to this US release, and this EP was released only as a CD single and this rare 12" (recently a 're-issue' 7" version has been released, but this rare 12" has never been re-issued). This is therefore the only place to find this artwork in large-scale format. The labels, too, are stunning, with the Reprise 'steamboat' design. The EP failed to chart upon its release, and the 12" format is incredibly rare by comparison with the more widely-available CD version; in 2005 it was listed at Number 40 by 'Record Collector' magazine in the Smiths 'Top 100 Rarities' article. Seldom offered for sale, this is a truly a pleasure to own and it may be some time before a copy in such outstanding condition (see below) becomes available on the market again.The vinyl and labels are in tremendous near mint condition, having been played just once or twice at most but having been extremely well looked after; there are no visible surface marks on the highly-glossy pristine vinyl. The outer sleeve is also in near mint condition, with no marks, creasing or seam splits and having strong sharp edges with only the very lightest of 'corner wear' in a couple of places on this superb sleeve. If the sleeve is held to the light, a faint impression of the record inside can be seen but it has not progressed to the level of significant 'ringwear' and the record has been stored outside of the sleeve since being in my possession. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
