Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'William It Was Really Nothing' Rare Sleeve 7" - 1987 Issue

This auction is for the much rarer (compared to the original green 'man on bed' sleeve issue) 1987 pressing of 'William It Was Really Nothing', which is now becoming difficult to obtain. The sleeve of this re-issue differed from the original, and featured a still of Billie Whitelaw from the film "Charlie Bubbles". The vinyl itself is also different in that it has 'How Soon Is Now' as the B-side, rather than 'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' which appeared on the original release. In addition, the run-off writing on side B says "We Hates Bad Grammer" rather than "Romantic And Square Is Hip And Aware" as on the original. These details show that it is the correct rarer matching vinyl here and not, as is sometimes found, a switched copy of the more common original vinyl inside the re-issue sleeve. Collectors will also notice that this pressing has the original 'pronged' push-out centre which was favoured by Morrissey; other copies of this release may also be found with a solid centre. It is, in my experience, even more difficult to find good condition copies of this 7" version than it is the equivalent 12" with the similarly re-designed sleeve, even though they were released at the same time.The vinyl and labels are in excellent condition, having been played but well looked-after; the vinyl remains glossy with some superficial surface marks in a few places. The outer sleeve is in strong excellent condition, being flat and unworn; there are no significant signs of creasing and no writing or seam-splitting. The corners are all relatively sharp, and there is no rubbing to any of the edges; a very nice example indeed of this rare sleeve. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
