Up for sale is a genuinely rare promotional 7-inch single of The Smiths' "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" (Sire, 1987), issued strictly to US radio stations and DJ pools.
This copy carries key collector attributes, including a rare matrix misprint, 1st Mother / 1st Stamper allocation, and unique factory assembly details:
1st Mother / 1st Stamper (1-1): Both sides display the 1-1 allocation at the end of the runout, showing it was pressed from the very first mother plate and stamper produced.
Dual Matrix Misprint: Features the secondary unreleased catalog code OR-19128 etched right alongside the standard catalog number 7-28136-A-SH2. Sire originally planned to issue this release under the 19128 sequence before changing it prior to distribution.
Double Side A Promo: Features the full stereo track on both sides with "Promotion Not For Sale" printed on the right side of the yellow Sire label.
180° Inverted Labels: The labels are aligned 180 degrees opposite each other (upside down relative to one another when flipped).
Off-Center Label Placement: Visible factory shift on one side, with the label positioned a few millimeters to the right of the spindle hole, while the other side remains closely centered.
