Description

An original 1st press of "IV" on United Artist with custom labels. Matrix A1U/B1U - very 1st cut. Stampers 1-RR/1-RG...straight off of the 1st mother!! Etching "JONZ". The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with bespoke inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks, and one very superficial trail - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one very slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. I thin the Stranglers are a bit underrated, personally... I mean where did Mark E Smith get his act from...hmmm? Anyways if you need to hear this 70's classic in the best possible way - then congrats..you've just found it. How can you not love 'Down In the Sewer'? Ha - what a class act! This Lp is superbly preserved and consequently plays beautiful the whole way through. I'm detecting very little signs of use at all - nothing in the background at all really. I picked up just one isolated click during 'Sometimes'. I'll do my usual catch-all..you might detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. But in all other respects..>>>> A stormer!..A Peach! Please note the side 2 label has been signed right at the top.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and not all these original '77 covers are going to surface in 2020 looking this nice. Those blacks are looking deep and clean with little sign of the often found wear. Front and back are close on perfect - flat, uncreased, no sign of wear. Edge wear is very limited and the openings still sharp. The only vague let down which stops it grading a tad higher is a one inch patch of wear bang in the middle of the spine. It partially obscures the band name and the title. Shame as, other than that, it looks well smart. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Looks great with just one edge split [one inch]. Otherwise fabbo.
