Description
From my personal record collection bought throughout the 1970s, unplayed since the early 1980s until now. This is a very rare original 1st pressing limited edition release in the UK in 1979 from the 'The Stranglers' 12" LP Album 'The Raven' . The first 20,000 copies of the original picture sleeve were produced with a (lenticular) 3D image of a 'Raven' on the front of the sleeve, with a card inner insert sleeve with lyrics printed on both sides of the insert, however this first run of inner sleeves had to be withdrawn from further prints as the image of former 'Premier of Queensland' Johannes Bjelke-Petersen (see attached photo) on the inner sleeve artwork was banned, and had to be removed, so another limited edition was inadvertently created (without the 'Petersen' image), when the band was forced to remove the image. Petersen was the subject of the album's sixth track, "Nuclear Device (The Wizard of Aus)".

Cover picture sleeve is in excellent condition on both sides, almost mint, with some minimal faint scuffing and a very minor right hand top corner crease, if you're looking at the front cover, difficult to see, but there. Inner insert card sleeve is also in excellent condition, crisp and clean with some minor creasing on both sides and a little spot discolouring in some of the white areas.
The vinyl is in excellent condition, with both sides playing superbly with normal minor crackle and little sign of wear.
The 'United Artists' labels are looking great on both sides, just a little paper puckering around the centre hole of side 1
Runoff groove on side one is etched with "A PORKY PRIME CUT" and the runoff groove on side two is etched with "PORKY"
