The Style Council – Café Bleu (1984) Original UK First Pressing Polydor TSCLP1
Rare complete set – SIGNED on the front cover by Paul Weller and Mick Talbot (“Mike Talbot” variant) + original inserts + bonus signed 1986 promo poster + ORIGINAL 1994 Fraser’s Autographs receipt/COA.
This is a fully matching original 1984 UK gatefold LP pressing (catalog TSCLP1) – not a reissue. Bought directly from Fraser’s Autographs in London and kept in my collection since.
What’s included (everything shown in the photos):
• Gatefold sleeve signed on the front by Paul Weller (right photo) and Mick Talbot (left photo) in black marker – signatures are clear, bold, and unfaded.
• Original black vinyl (both sides shown) – Side A with the classic swirl “Café Bleu” label, Side B with the interior scene label. Light surface marks from play (plays through fine with no skips).
• Plain blue Polydor protective inner sleeve with Torch Society fan club address.
• Full original 16-page “Notes from the Café Bleu” booklet (front Paris café cover + back “Other Recordings You Will Enjoy” promo grid).
• Rare 1986 Polydor promo poster (March 1986 dated, black & white photo of Paul & Mick in hockey jerseys) – also signed by both + Mick Talbot’s own handwritten personal contact details at the bottom (“MARC TALBOT” with 1980s UK work & home phone numbers).
• Original Fraser’s Autographs receipt/COA dated 29 October 1994 – explicitly lists the purchase of “1 x STYLE COUNCIL ‘CAFE BLEU’ LP” (along with a Helena Bonham-Carter photo) for £95 by Mr T. Havard. Full scan included – lifetime guarantee from the long-established dealer (since 1978).
Condition:
• Sleeve: VG (minor edge wear and age toning – normal for 40+ year old item; slight damage/wear to the spine (small tear/crease at the edge as clearly shown in the dedicated spine photo – fully intact with no splits or loose pages, just cosmetic).
• Vinyl: VG (light marks/scratches consistent with normal play; no warps or deep gouges).
• Booklet & poster: VG+ (natural fold lines on poster; clean otherwise).
• Signatures & COA: Excellent.
Provenance: Purchased directly from reputable UK dealer Fraser’s Autographs with their original 1994 receipt explicitly naming the Café Bleu LP. The poster was inside the sleeve at purchase – everything from the same source.
This is a complete, verified collector’s dream for any Paul Weller / The Jam / Style Council fan. Signed originals are scarce; the booklet + signed 1986 promo poster with Mick’s personal notes + dated 1994 Fraser’s receipt make this set exceptionally rare. Demand is strong right now with the Café Bleu Special Edition physical release coming 15 May 2026.
