Description
About This Record. This is an original first pressing U.S. copy of Teenagers first LP with Frankie Lymon, on the Gee label, Gee GLP 701. This has been in my collection for decadeand is by no means a keeper copy, but this is the only copy of the LP I have seen in White label promo format in my 35 years of record collecting. So I guess there aren't many keeper copies out there and this is such an important doo wop R&B record in its original form. Sorry for the high starting price, but I paid a lot more for this years ago during the doo wop frenzy. But now the Doo Wop frenzy is beginning anew, as anyone who has visited a college campus recently may have noticed. I guess that is why this white label promo version of the LP has listed for $1000 plus for decades in this hated record price guides. Be that as it may be, NO RESERVE
The Labels The all important and never before seen labels are VG+; No problems like writing or stickers, just light wear due to some spindle marks.
The Vinyl: The vinyl, which weighs 160 grams!, looks VG-, medium paper marks, some light stylus marks; plays VG to VG+ for the most part (VG+ = EX), although some background noise as is always present with these pressings, and some pops here here and then there. No real problems like skips, sticks or anything nasty. I'm listening to it again right now.
The Cover: The very fragile cover is in F (as in Fair) shape. Seams are weak and have splits (40% top seam; 25% bottom seam), although spine is fine and all writing is legible, although the spine is beginning to flake) Also there is a price sticker mark top right corner. Tape was removed from bottom seam and spine. Not pretty at all, but easy to upgrade the cover. DJ Stamp in big block stamp letters is on back cover.
