Description

This is an original 1962 mono first pressing of the debut album by the British instrumental group The Tornadoes titled The Original Telstar - The Sounds Of The Tornadoes. The record was released on the London Records label with the catalog number LL 3279 and features the deep groove maroon labels with the fffr logo. The title track was a massive hit that made history as the first single by a British group to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Producer Joe Meek recorded the song in his home studio on Holloway Road in London using a clavioline keyboard to create the futuristic space age sounds that defined the early 1960s. This specific US pressing was released shortly after the Telstar satellite was launched into orbit in July 1962 and includes twelve tracks of instrumental rock and roll.
