Description
"The Velvet Underground & Nico" Verve Stereo V6-5008, 1967, First Issue gatefold cover, featuring the 'torso' projection behind the VU, from a photo taken during a performance at the Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Produced by Andy Warhol (though John Cale did much of the heavy lifting) and featuring his peel-able banana cover design. The banana has a small tear at the top of the fruit nearest the stem, looking like the result of an unsuccessful peel since the backing of the banana is still intact at that point, allowing only a glimpse of the pink-hued fruit beneath.
Overall, despite general light soiling and the banana tear, we'd stiill call the cover VG+/VG++. The record is another story - we grade it between NM- and Near Mint with only slight wear - it is exceedingly clean, appearing to have been played carefully only a few times, judging from the few spindle marks on each side. It is RARE for the cover, but RARER STILL in such nice playing shape.
