rare 1978 Australian punk

 

 

This is The Victims’ second release by the Perth three piece.

 

Studio Side - I Understand / Open Your Eyes / High School Girls

Live Side – TV Freak / Disco Junkies

 

The disc is in excellent condition, with a soft scratch on the b-side that crackles a couple of times but does not adversely affect the sound. The original b&w cover is also in excellent condition.

 

The Victims were the leading punk band in Perth in the late seventies. The studio side showcases three pop, punk tunes about relationships from the Victims perspective, while the live songs see the Victims in an angrier mood. All five songs are up there with the best released in the period.

 

In the eighties, singer and guitarist Dave Faulkner went on to form the chart topping, rock, pop, sixties influenced Hoodoo Gurus, while drummer James Baker started the legendary, swamp, rock, grunge band, The Scientists.
