Description
Hi! You are bidding on a live two album by The Who. The set is titled The High Numbers: The First Complete Rock Opera. The two album set was released by Score Records. Year of manufacture is unknown. The concert was recorded at the Operahouse Amsterdam (Concertgebouw) on September 29th., 1969. The vinyl is in excellent condition, with no skips, pops, or surface noise. The record jacket has very light shelf and ring wear.
This was supposedly the first time that The Who had done a complete live performance of the rock opera Tommy. The studio album had been released four months earlier. However, "Cousin Kevin" and "Sally Simpson" are both missing from this set. Whether they were left out of the concert for time constraints, or left off of the albums for space restrictions is open to debate. Also, some of the tracks on the album are out of running order from the studio version. So it's possible that this could be a bootleg of a bootleg. Additionally, the sides are out of sequence between the record jacket and the records. Side A is side one; side B is actually side four; side C is actually side two; and side D is actually side three. There are also a couple of spelling errors on the record labels.
Songs on the albums are as follows:
Side one:
Heaven and Hell Can't Explain Fortune Teller Tattoo Young Man Blues Substitute Happy Jack I'm a Boy
Side two:
Pinball Wizard Do You Think It's Alright Fiddle About Tommy Can You Hear Me? There's a Doctor I've Found Go to the Mirror Smash the Mirror I'm Free Tommy's Holiday Camp We're Not Gonna Take It See Me Feel Me Summertime Blues
Side three:
Shakin' All Over My Generation
Side four:
Overture It's a Boy 90/21 Amazing Journey Sparks Eyesight to the Blind Christmas Acid Queen
The actual running order on the studio album is as follows:
Overture It's a Boy You Didn't Hear It (1921) Amazing Journey Sparks Eyesight to the Blind Christmas Cousin Kevin Acid Queen Do You Think It's Alright Fiddle About Pinball Wizard There's a Doctor I've Found Go to the Mirror Boy Tommy Can You Hear Me? Smash the Mirror Sensation Miracle Cure Sally Simpson I'm Free Welcome Tommy's Holiday Camp We're Not Gonna Take It
Despite all that, it's vintage Who, recorded in 1969. They had not yet established themselves as one of the greatest rock bands in the history of the genre.
Winning bidder to pay $3.82 media rate postage in the U.S. Personal cheque preferred; there is no holding period for cheques. Please e-mail with any questions.
