The first release of this classic, with 'Mfd By Decca Records' credits on label. (Later pressings showed "Mfd by MCA Records Inc."
What can I even say about this LP, or about the experience of hearing this music on vinyl, mastered to within an inch of its life? Pretty much quintessential. The Who seem to come alive on vinyl, whether it's spinning at 45 or 33. And while this seems to be a purpose-made album, or maybe a live one ("On Tour" it says here), it's neither--it's actually a compilation of 1966-68 singles, with some of the B-sides mixed in...for me that's early Who at its best, most experimental, most goofy, most heartfelt.
This is a sweet way to hear the music, and the vinyl is in VG+ condition. Listening to it through a Stax headphone, I'm hearing light surface sound mostly only audible at empty grooves between tracks. The sleeve is as you see it here, some ringwear mostly on the back, solid.
