Description

An original 1st press of QUAD from 1973 on EMI - absolute 1st. Matrix A2/B1/B1/A2 [&MCA] + Delta symbols - as you find only on very 1st press. So, why insist on earliest 1st press? Because they were pressed heavy and are right off of those pristine masters. Note how the labels are flat and NOT shiny - this is how genuine 1st should look. If yours doesn't look like that - it's not a 1st press. The sound will beat everything else by some margin. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original soft-card cover with the mega photo page section inside. These 1st copies are incredibly difficult to find in anything approaching decent condition. And original generic inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen the light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. You're going to need a clean player otherwise the quieter moments will soon become distracting. Lovely and clean into ALL those slowbuild/sea sections. The only issue I could detect was that one of the infamous mentions of 'I'll Rxxx It' - in Dr Jimmy seems missing. But it doesn't really notice at all - it's as though it has been just cut from the audio. Overall a clean beautiful player that digs very deep. If you truly want to hear this masterpiece like it was originally envisaged...you are unlikely to find a better rendition.
Cover (Vg+) A total pain to find in even half decent condition. the soft card was not really designed to last - so one even like this is not all that easy to find. Some surface wear, but pretty tidy overall. This example is still looking rather spritely. The interior has a touch of light ageing, but pretty tidy overall. The Booklet, as happens in 99% of examples, has detached in on piece [almost unavoidable unfortunately]. But the booklet pages are all in excellent condition. Edge wear is relatively slight. The spine is in above average with little war. Overall - a superb example.
Inner (Vg+) A little aged. No splits.
