Description

An original 1st press of QUAD on the UK Track label from 1973. Matrix A1/B2/A1/B2 [including V420 on each side]. Please note true 1st press labels are easy to identify - they must be matt and flat..not ridged! The real 1st press are heavy set and sound significantly better than later copies. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original soft-card gatefold cover with inner booklet. Also included are both original inner sleeves. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks per side, and one 1 inch semi-feelable mark which does just about sound..details below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Beautiful quality audio as is only delivered from these true early copies. Interference is both minor and infrequent. Generally speaking expect very little at all across the vast majority of the discs. Expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per disc. The only track [single track] that I can pick-out a couple of issues is in DOCTOR JIMMY. There's the mark mentioned above which spans most of the track. In the quieter moments of the track expect the odd low-level pip/tick. It's pretty low-level and given that most of the track is FULL-ON it is only vaguely noticeable occasionally. The only other issue is that in the middle of the same track there's a brief non-repeating jump. It's not all that noticeable - you just lose one line of the chorus 'WHAT IS IT?'..that's all. If you can live with those issues, in that one track, the rest of the four sides will blow you away...they play superbly.
Cover (Ex-) These soft-card 1st issue covers are an absolute nightmare to find in top-level condition due to the way they were manufactured. This example, however, majorly bucks the trend and looks really sweet. Front and rear are really well preserved with hardly any handling wear. On the front all I can make out is a tiny amount in the extreme top left corner. Edge wear is very light for this title and the spine looks well preserved with all text still legible. The interior looks very nice and fresh - no signs of ageing at all. The heavy booklet, as is very very common, has detached from the main body of the cover in one complete section. The booklet pages are all intact and in superb condition.
Inners (Ex) No splits and very little ageing.
