Description
This is a really nice original copy of the Who's Sell Out, released in 1967 on the Track label, catalogue number 612 002.
This is a Mono copy, please note without the sticker and poster, and the condition is as follows:
COVER: The fully laminated E J Day cover has no writing, splits tears or any other discolouration to show for its 45 years! All too often copies of these LP's are seen pretty wrecked, this has escaped the ravagies of time and parties. The pictures of the band both back and front are fresh and vibrant and are as clear as the day of manufacture.The white areas remain a clean white without any fading or "creaminess"
There are some creases in the laminate to the front and back, and a small amount of laminate lift towards the spine, but this would be acceptable to the majority of collectors. The cover opening for the entry of the LP is clean without any feathering. The top and bottom of the cover is clean without any shelfwear.
SPINE: Is clean and all print is perfectly legible.
RECORD: Side One is very shiny with a mirror like finish. There are a couple of very small hairlines. Matrix number is 612 002 A 2 - 11
Side Two is equally as impressive with three hairlines, Matrix number 612 002 B - 1 1 1
LABELS: Both sides show few spindle marks indicating light play, and still fits tightly on the spindle of the turntable. Side One has a silver star put on by the previous owner, this could be removed but has been left on.
SOUND QUALITY: I have played this all the way through and the record sounds really great on my Gyrodeck / SME / Naim / B&W 802 system and the marks mentioned above do not affect the audio experience due to the heavy vinyl used at that time. As an early pressing the bass is full and vocals clear with no distorion and a full dynamic range all the way through.
I would grade this as EX- / EX using the Record Collector grading system.
This record does not come up very often on Mono, and certainly not in this sort of condition so overall a very desireable addition to any serious collection.
