Description

An original 1st press of TOMMY on the UK Track label from 1969. Matrix 1/1/1/1 - very 1st cut. All four labels are perfectly consistent with 1st press and all mention "DOUBLE ALBUM" in a large font. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original fully-laminated gatefold cover [per 1st issue]. In addition we have the lyric booklet which is numbered "50298" and both original inner sleeves date coded to summer-69. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In lovely condition and have only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A nigh on perfect rendition and I'm struggling to find fault at all. Beautifully clean even in the low-key sections, but powerful and energetic in the more complex passages. It's a playrrrr! Interference is largely absent. I'll do my usual catch-all....you may detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. A very commanding and accomplished rendition and one it would be difficult to equal, let alone better.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and might have graded marginally higher but for one issue on the spine. The laminate always helps to protect this title and this cover is looking very sweet indeed. Lovely clean and shiny front and back with those lovely blue hues all perfectly preserved. I can only make out a couple of thumbnail creases on the front and one tiny sticker removal mark top-left on the rear. The interior is absolutely spot on - no issues at all. Edge wear is light for this title. There's only one exception to this and that's on the spine. There's one spot where a hole has worn through - it's marginally less than 1 inch in length, and this really is the only noticeable issue with this cover. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity and remains a very impressive example.
Inners (Ex-) Light ageing at extremities. No splits or markings though.
Booklet (Ex) No issues at all. Lightly thumbed.
