Quick Guide To Record Grading:
NM = Played minimally with no damage or defects.
EXC = Very light visible marks not affecting grooves (i.e. sleeve marks, dust abrasions, automatic changer wear)
VG+ = Record well cared for but showing some wear, enjoyable listening copy.
VG = Record noticeably damaged but listenable with background noise.
VG- = The minimum tolerable grade for most buyers - expect background noise and pops but NO skips or warps.
G/F/B = Barely listenable, if at all - records I wouldn't buy or sell unless they were VERY rare.
Additional (+/-) signs [i.e. VG++ / EXC-] in grading represent subtler differences, or a "lean" towards a higher or lower grade.
Records with soft quiet passages (i.e. some Jazz, Classical, Acoustic music) are MUCH more susceptible to damage than louder rock records.
In general, MONOPHONIC records from the 50s & 60s are MUCH less susceptible to damage than STEREOPHONIC pressings
More detailed description and play test: (as requested) Condition of Side 1: VG - Many light marks, a few needle marks. Plays through loud and clear thanks to the superb Capitol 6000 series deep groove pressing. Grooves are hot (loud), deep-set and well-spaced, so that the music overpowers the background noise. Condition of Side 2: VG - Same as above, noticed some loud "pops" on "My Girl Sloopy", but still not enough to make the needle jump at 1.25g tracking force. Most records from the era wouldn't stand up as well as these Capitol 6000 series pressings do! Impressive sound for a "VG" condition album. Condition of Cover: VG - Bottom and top PARTIAL seam splits(repaired well with tape, didn't notice at first glance). Front slick has almost no ring wear, very vivid and presentable. A name is faintly written in pencil(?) above the fence, as well as three letters in felt pen below the Capitol logo which look as if someone has tried to lighten them with an eraser (successfully). Spine is solid, but text is illegible in spots. Back cover shows staining around three edges, and some discoloration from handling. Overall: The album plays better than I would expect of a VG record, with minimum audible surface noise once the music starts. Capitol 6000 pressings are among the best! Definitely makes the Epic USA released Yardbirds LPs look bad. The cover has seen better days, but is still presentable, and incredibly rare in ANY condition. On thorough examination and play testing, I stand by my earlier grade of VG/VG. I compared back and forth between this, and my 190g analog mono re-issue of the Italian Yardbirds "Best Of" album on the Get Back label. The Capitol 6000 release by far sounds clearer, punchier, and has a sound authentic to the era. Thank you, and good luck bidding! -goodgroove67 .
