Description

For auction is a rare original UK STEREO first pressing of The Zombies 1968 LP Odessey & Oracle, catalogue number CBS S 63280.

This is a stereo pressing in a MONO Ernest J.Day & Co Ltd laminated sleeve (the S is missing from the catalogue number), with the addition of a STEREO sticker on the top right hand corner of the back of the sleeve.

The inner sleeve is the original CBS "Sounds of Entertainment" sleeve advertising other releases.

The vinyl has the matrix numbers SBPG 63280 A2 and SBPG 63280 B2 on sides 1 and 2 respectively.  The orange labels feature the square CBS logo in the centre, "STEREO", the catalogue number S63280 and "MADE IN ENGLAND".

Though I did not buy it new I have owned this LP for many years, it has been stored upright and been played very little.  I am not a record collector and am unfamiliar with the correct terms for condition, but will describe it as well as I can.  Please also refer to the pictures.

The laminated sleeve is not in the best condition, with wear on the corners and numerous creases, again particularly at the corners and edges.  The "STEREO" sticker on the back has the initials "S.R." written on it in red biro.  All that said, for its age I would say the condition is good.

The inner sleeve also shows signs of age with creases and scuffs, and there is some writing in red biro on one side (the LP title and musicians).  The 3 non-open sides also have been carefully taped with clear tape, although on inspection it is not clear if this is has been added for strength or if paper itself is broken.

The vinyl is in good clean condition (better than the sleeve), nice and shiny with only minor surface marks which do not affect the performance.  Side 2 is better still than side 1. Please note the photos of the vinyl show a lot of reflection such as the black "snake" marks which are not on the record.  I have played the LP through and the sound quality is good and clean with little noise.

The labels are in good condition.

The LP will be posted with good protection, any questions please ask.
