Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A 1958 1st Press Mono copy of Thelonious Monk Quartet - Misterioso on Riverside RLP 12-279, blue DG label with silver text Bill Grauer Productions ( no Inc.). This is the rare version with both US & GB Patent Nos. stamped tn the run out grooves.
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl is spotless with a good gloss retained, a few non feelable hairlines & scuff marks which are non feelable. The vinyl sits flat with clean labels & spindle holes - graded visually VG but plays VG+
Playtest reveals a clear & bright mono sound which captures the wonderful live atmosphere at The Five Spot Cafe. The vinyl plays through as it should with no jumping or sticking.
The rigid cardboard sleeve is sturdy with vibrant print colour retained to the laminated front. Very light shelfwear & age discolouration, however the spine is approx 50% degraded/ worn ( see photos). No writing, tape or tears.
We have popped the record into a new poly lined inner sleeve to preserve it after cleaning.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
A rare opportunity for a collector to own an original copy of this wonderful album.
