Description
Original Thelonius Monk Quintet comp, issued in 1958 on Prestige as PRLP 7053.
Both label sides here list the 50th St NYC address! Most early pressings of this LP list a Bergenfield, NJ address on at least one side but not this one.
This rare LP has been FULLY PLAY TESTED and plays great through and through with no skips (contrary to the penned notes on the back cover!). Some moderate noise at the start of side 2 lasts for half the track, but otherwise both sides play beautifully with great sound and only light intermittent surface noise that never overpowers.
Visually the disc is graded at VG+, with light scuffs and marks but nothing particularly deep or ugly. labels and spindle hole are excellent
Jacket is graded at VG-/G+ with taped edge seams, moderate age discoloration, frayed corners and general overall wear, along with handwriting in blue and black ink, some of which appears to have been smudged and/or faded.
