Description
Ethereal, gothic fabulousness from This Mortal Coil, on lovely double vinyl. Now quite hard to get hold of in such excellent condition. Beautiful sleeve artwork and photography, even lovelier sounds inside. Vintage 4AD sweeping strings, luscious guitars, intricate dreamy soundscapes. Put on your laciest evening wear and hurl yourself onto a thousand goosedown pillows in a forgotten attic to listen in rapture. Outer and inner sleeves in very good clean condition, except for one 5cm spine tear; discs very good.

Damn, I shouldn't listen to this stuff - it's making me feel like a heathen monster, selling it.
Product Review The second album from This Mortal Coil takes a darker and colder turn than its predecessor, "It'll End in Tears". It benefits from greater length and a more subtle flow of textures from one track to the next. All three albums are intended to be heard continuously, the varied covers more like arias than a collection of singles. On the first listen it's easy to see this as relentlessly downbeat navel-gazing. On the second the intricacy of the sonic tapestry and the variety of rich imagery stands out, from the ponderous forgotten-myth vibe of "The Jeweller" through the theatrical grandeur of "Strength of Strings" and the intimate tragedy of "Morning Glory" into more disturbing waters. This is an album both for mourning and celebrating life, the dream paradox that makes perfect sense whilst you are experiencing it: "I want to live/I want to die".
All three This Mortal Coil albums are must-owns. "It'll End in Tears" would make a better sampler for the uninitiated, but you'll quickly find that all three become indispensable.
